What we long for is here. Each day, each moment, invites us to find the path that takes us not into preoccupation with ourselves, but with purposeful service of others.

"Jesus Tells Us that the Spirit Comes Like a Wind"

The wind roars, moving through the slim fingers of tree limbs swaying their smaller branches and its voice, the voice of this wind, lifts my head to attention. It is “louder” than the Scriptures which have been speaking to me from the page of my Bible. This voice now seems to be “seen” before me on the hill across the way, the trees have become the wind’s words. The hill asks me to be attentive to it as its own “Sacred text” reveals something of this morning.

In the door came pesto made with home grown basil. Mike, who made it for us from his grandmother’s recipe of basil, included roasted and ground pine nuts with garlic - all of this accompanying his wonderful raviolis! A summertime dish with others near the end of the summer filled the table as we filled the Murphy’s kitchen.
