Students for the Mountain

Go into all the world and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to the whole of creation.”
-- Mark 16:15
Students for the Mountain is a group of St. Bonaventure University students from a variety of religious backgrounds. They meet weekly with the friars to grow in their own spirituality and to plan student-led events at Mt. Irenaeus for members of the University community. These event range from “evenings-away,” consisting of a home-cooked meal and prayer-time, to “over-nights away” and “weekends-away.” People come to “The Mountain” to find a place of quiet, peace, and “re-creation.”
Rooted in the Franciscan tradition, the Students for the Mountain serve as ministers primarily to the Mt. Irenaeus and the St. Bonaventure communities. It is through the gospel values of faith, peace, hope, love that we seek to offer opportunities for the presence of God to surface in everyday life. Joined as a family we are committed to one another for spiritual, emotional, physical and mental support on our journey of discipleship. Through our leadership and ministry we hope to better exemplify the love of God in Jesus. This love empowers us to “go into all the world and proclaim the good news” of God's reign, and to stretch our community to include all peoples in the way of Jesus.
